Wine is an integral part of French lifestyle. Whenever you are invited to a dinner or a party always bring a bottle of wine. No celebration, housewarming or birthday is possible without some red or white wine! And evenings on the banks of the Seine or the San Martin channel without a bottle of wine and a baguette are as good as wasted

That’s why twice a year every Parisian grabs some cash, a solid bag and some good mood to attend the independent wine fair – Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants. Four days of discovering wines from all over France at modest prices and enjoying free wine tasting are guaranteed!
Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants is a wine fair that brings winemakers from across the country to Paris twice a year. This time we’ll drink white, red and rosé from 24th to 28th of November. Admissions are 6 euros but you can get a complementary free invitation by sending a request to .

Parisians buy wine by boxes here – it is cheaper, such an abundance of choice happens once in half a year and after free wine tasting we all tend to think in large quantities 😉 There is another important reason to buy wine here instead of specialized stores. Traditionally at a wine shop (called “cave”) you would be treated to a lecture about wine, shown the whole range of wines but not be able to taste. Independent Wine Fair gives you this delicious opportunity! The most important factor in choosing any drink is certainly not the label, grade, or price. It is the simple “like – not like”. And tasting is the only way to make the right choice.

Aside from the practical part, you can attend the lectures about wine (« initiation à la dégustation »), where for 45 minutes real experts will tell you how to choose wine and how to combine it to enjoy it to its fullest. After all, even good wine can be ruined by unsuitable dish, wrong storage temperatures or (the most terrible sin for the French) by diluting it with ice or mineral water. After the lecture you’ll have time for questions (which you can prepare in advance). Afterwards you will be well equipped to start exploring the extensive show area in search of your ideal wine.

But the most pleasant and invaluable during the fair is communication. Here, most people selling wine are those who create it. Those who only yesterday were in their wine châteaux and touched those grape leaves, and today are pouring wine into your glass. You will chat, exchange contacts and, who knows, maybe next time you’ll have a room in a French château waiting for you, with a bottle of red wine and cozy fireplace gatherings with the winemaker’s family.
